We are buggin' out in the Giraffe class! The last two weeks the students have been learning about insects! We learned that some insects fly, while others walk on many legs - like spiders. The class learned that spiders have eight legs and make sticky webs to catch other bugs. Check out some of the other things students learned!

We sequenced numbers 1 - 10 to put together a puzzle of a slug!

The students learned that spiders spin webs to
catch their food! They made their own spider
webs by sewing the yarn across the plate.

Students cut on lines to make grass for
their bugs to hid in! They even colored the grass green.

 We had spider races!
The students had to blow through a
straw to make a plastic spider
scurry across the table to the
finish line.

Students counted pom-poms to create caterpillars.

The class made a graph to demonstrate who likes
which bug the best! The students wrote the first letter
of their name above their favorite bug and we counted which bug
had the most votes (spider).

The students threw "flies" at sticky spider webs for spiders to eat!

Students relaxed with stickers as they traced lowercase letters.

The class sorted insects that were big and small!

We got new transportation puzzles in our room!
The students love working on them!

We learned that butterflies like to eat the nectar from flowers. We played
a game where we rolled a large dice and flew a butterfly to the flower
with the same number so that she could have some breakfast!

The students rose to the challenge of the wiggly worm activity!
The students weaved worms in and out of the mud - where worms
like to live!

For our last day of the school year -
we celebrated with some fun activities!

The students had an "ice-cream" cone relay race!
They had to balance a ball (the ice-cream) on top of
a toilet paper roll (the cone) all the way to the bucket.

We raced through an obstacle course!

Everyone's favorite surprise was the bounce house and tricycles!
