The Giraffes had fun finishing their ocean unit! We learned about whales, sea turtles, sea shells and crabs! Check out our activities!

The students learned that whales have to come up out of the ocean

to breathe. They learned that whales breathe through blowholes 

in on the top of their head and they spout water out to get rid 

of bad air. We painted our own 3D whales!

We were very excited to watch a video of baby 

sea turtles hatching and making their way to 

the ocean! Sea turtles can hold their breath in 

the water for about thirty minutes. 

We made our own Sea turtles!

 Sea shells make great homes for small 

ocean creatures! There are so many types of 

Sea shells! We graphed the sea shells 

and counted how many of each kind we 

could find.

We made sea shell imprints using play dough! 

The different sea shells made different patterns in the

play dough.

During free play on Wednesday the students

decided that they all wanted to play doctor!

Ms. Dana was well cared for! 

 Friends wanted to help me sweep!

We learned that crabs have ten legs!

We made crabs using circles and triangles.

This last week was an underwater adventure in the Giraffe class! We learned about fish, sharks, jellyfish, and octopuses! The students were very excited about exploring the big, blue sea. Check out some of our activities!

We made our own paper aquariums!

We colored the water using blue markers, 

added a rocky seabed using mashed graham crackers, 

and then added plants and fish!

The students each counted three fish for their aquarium.

Underwater counting! The students used glass beads

to make underwater bubbles. They had to count the 

bubbles so that it matched the number. 

We made our own jellyfish!

We colored the body (known as the bell)

with markers. Then the students folded a

piece of yarn and put the folded end on 

a piece of tape. The hardest part of the project

was putting the tape on the inside of the bell to 

look like tentacles!

Ms. Tremmel put some ocean words o the white board. 

The students were challenged to see if they could find the 

magnet letters that were missing to make the words.

We have started getting our instruments out every morning

to have some musical fun! The kids love it! They are 

getting some wiggles out, working on hand-eye coordination, 

and developing a sense of beat. 

We made our own octopuses! They are such interesting

creatures! We learned that they have three hearts, blue blood, 

eight legs, and suckers on each leg to catch fish.

We learned that fish have scales on their body to 

protect them. We put scales on our own fish to 

help us remember.

We played in mini oceans at the sensory table!

We had foamy water, plastic fish, and seashells!

Water day fun!

We worked on our writing skills as we traced waves over to the sea creatures!

We love reading bible stories! 

We try to read at least one each day.
