This past week has been an EGG-cellent start to learning about Easter! The students focused on why we celebrate Easter - because Jesus died so that one day we can go to Heaven! Students also reviewed letters A - E, with a special emphasis on letter sounds to help them prepare for reading skills.

Fun at Home
The Giraffes had fun making letters disappear by painting on Dry Erase boards using water! If you have a dry erase board and markers at home this can be a fun way to practice letters, numbers, and small words (mom, dad, dog, etc.) If you start introducing words, focus on words that are important to your child. These are words that they will be excited about learning!

Check out what else we were up to last week!

We had fun honoring our Grandparents and special guests!
We took them to chapel, got our pictures taken, ate muffins,
decorated picture frames, read a silly story,
and sang for them!

Students practiced cutting on the lines.
In the middle of their
shape was a chick!

 Friends shared puzzle pieces as
we worked on button puzzles.

We made fuzzy Easter eggs using colorful cotton balls!

Students had fun tracing their A,B,C's using watercolors on top of letters drawn in salt and glue!
Students worked their fine motor skills as they used the eye-droppers to distribute the paint.

We practiced letter sounds as students matched chicks marked with letters
A - E to their egg. Each egg had food that started with one of the letters.

We couldn't leave St. Patty's Day unnoticed!
The students made their own Shamrocks using
paper towel roll stamps!

The Easter Bunny has been sneaky in our classroom!
He keeps putting letters A-E in our Easter eggs!
The students try to match up the letters they find in the
eggs with a picture that makes that sound.

We continued to practice letter sounds as we matched one
half of an egg with the other. One half had a letter and
the other half had a picture that started with the letter sounds.

'Students traced the word Easter using
carrots instead of paintbrushes!
We talked about how the
Easter Bunny likes to eat carrots.
New sensory items (like carrots instead of paintbrushes)
can make old activities more interesting!

We were excited to enjoy the nice weather!

At Jesus time we focused on when Jesus was praying
in the Garden. He asked his disciples to keep watch, but they
kept falling asleep! Eventually, the men Jesus was expecting came
and Judas betrayed Jesus to soldiers with a kiss.

On Friday the students decided they were going to have
a family dinner together! They served each other and
used their kind words to express themselves!

Have a blessed week and a very Happy Easter!
